My Family Summer 2017- Rorie, Rusty, Haley (&PJ not pictured), Scott & Ashley (wedding 2018)
I consider myself lucky to be starting my eighth year teaching science at Carthage Junior High! This faculty and staff are like family and that is how we treat your children. We are incredibly fortunate to have powerful support from our administration, district, school board, community, and (most of all) our parents and guardians.
I graduated from Missouri Southern State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and I am certified in Middle School Science, Middle School Mathematics, and K-12 Special Education. I have lived in Carthage for fourteen years and I am a mother of four children, two adults and two teenagers. I am a native Texan and love cooking and playing games with my children and my mom who lives with me. I came from a big family and look forward to watching my own grow.
I became a teacher because I want to share my love of learning. I believe that my unique experience of struggling to express my own knowledge as a student and then watching my children grow and learn helps me understand what resources and methods students of all ages need to be successful. I am very familiar with a variety of learning methods and strategies and when I combine them with explicit instruction in strong study habits and organizational skills, I nearly always achieve a safe and happy environment for anyone to learn. I love this job and I am proud to work here.
